Ti-MWW Catalysts for Propylene Oxide Production: Influence of Si/Ti Ratio and Calcination Conditions

Abstract Titanium silicates of MWW structures with different Si/Ti ratios were prepared via hydrothermal synthesis using piperidine as the structure directing agent and boric acid crystallization agent. All syntheses resulted in highly crystalline materials independent ratio. The observed morphology showed MWW-like well-defined thin hexagonal platelets. synthesized Ti-MWW exhibited higher surface areas partial meso-porosity compared to commercial TS-1 catalyst. coordination Ti-species was investigated by UV–vis- IR-spectroscopy. titanium tested for catalytic performance epoxidation propylene a laboratory-scale trickle bed reactor compare their clear physico-chemical properties TS-1. significantly activities, up 3.5 times, acetonitrile solvent enhanced epoxide selectivities partially 100% methanol unlike effect Ti content calcination conditions epoxidation, revealing beneficial lower temperature an increased on activity. results correlated materials.
